Cybersecurity Professionals: Request for your Participation in Research

I am a research psychologist studying thought and decision making among cybersecurity professionals. The goal of my research is to improve cybersecurity career training. I need your help to learn how cybersecurity professionals make decisions and develop their expertise.

Anyone who works in a cybersecurity role is welcome; the research benefits from participants with different experiences, perspectives, and job roles.

Study 1: Evaluating Macrocognitive Awareness Training (30-minute online workshop)

We have developed a prototype training workshop, and we need your help to learn how to make it better.

Would you be willing to participate in the online training workshop and provide your reactions? Participation involves completing surveys before and after the 18-minute workshop, which can be viewed online. The total participation time is under 30 minutes.

Your participation is voluntary. Choosing not to participate will not affect your relationship with San José State University, including members of the research team. The risks associated with participation in this study are minimal. You can skip any question that you do not want to answer.

Study 2: Understanding the Cognitive Process of Computer Network Defense (30-minute survey and optional interview)

We need your help to learn how cybersecurity professionals make decisions and develop their expertise.

Would you be willing to spend under 30 minutes to complete a surevy about your career experience? Following the survey, you will have the option of volunteering for an interview about your expertise. The inteview does not require discussion of any specific threat, incident, or organization.

Your participation is voluntary. Choosing not to participate will not affect your relationship with San José State University, including members of the research team. The risks associated with participation in this study are minimal. You can skip any question that you do not want to answer.
